Dr. Mónica Cano Abadía (ORCID: 0000-0002-7726-9222) is Senior Scientist at BBMRI-ERIC. Her research focus is the analysis of ethical and societal aspects of AI in medicine. She conducts this work within the H2020 projects INTERVENE (as Work Package Lead, Grant agreement ID: 101016775) and EuCanImage (Grant agreement ID: 952103), analyzing the ethics of AI in imaging and polygenic risk scores, respectively. She has contributed to the FUTURE-AI guiding principles for trustworthy AI. She also works She has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Advanced Studies – South East Europe (University of Rijeka) and at the Section of Political Philosophy (University of Graz). She currently teaches at the master’s programme Interdisciplinary Women’s and Gender Studies (University of Graz) and at the master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies (Autonomous University of Madrid). She is Deputy Head of the Ethical, Legal and Societal Issues Services and Research Department, and the Gender, Equality, and Diversity Specialist at BBMRI-ERIC.
