Dr. Amal Matar 

Senior Scientific Advisor

Amal Matar is a project coordinator in the Human Brain Project and part of CRB’s neuroethics research group, where she currently is doing research on culture and neuroscience. In addition, her research interests include social and ethical aspects of new genomic and reproductive technologies with focus on stakeholders’ perspectives as well as the wider societal implications for such technologies. She was a researcher in the H2020 SIENNA project, focusing the ethical management of disruptive technologies, where she focused primarily on different applications of genomics technology and international genomics data sharing. Moreover, she conducts research on international research ethics, primarily focusing on the Middle East (MERETI). She holds a PhD in Bioethics from Faculty of Medicine, Uppsala University, a MSc., in Biotechnology from the American University in Cairo and is a trained Medical Doctor in Immunohematology in Egypt.
